Kanata Tournament Game 2 – Kanata Cubs vs Tyrans-Noir

The Cubs were on the field early on Saturday morning as they had an 8am game against the Tyrans-Noir team. This would be the third time they would play the Tyrans team in a week and looking for redemption against them. AB was on the mound for the Cubs to lead off the game and that he sure did sending the Noir team down in order with back to back strikeouts followed by a ground ball to Owen L at 2nd who flipped it to Cameron at 1st. The cubs went to bat and after a leadoff strikeout Cameron was hit by a pitch and was aboard early. AB singled and pushed Cameron to 3rd. Mason hit a high Sac Fly to score Cameron. Connor stepped up and was able to hit a single to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead after the first.

AB was back out in the top of the second. After back to back base hits AB got a strikeout for the first out. A deep sac fly to Mason scored the Noir first run and giving the Cubs 2 outs. Back to back singles gave the Noir their second run before AB managed to get a pop up to Connor at 3rd base. Unfortunately the Noir pitcher was pitching well and the Cubs actually went down in order courtesy of the strikeout. Game is tied at 2 after 2 innings.

In the 3rd AB was back on the mound. Back to back singles had a couple of runners on for the Noir. A 2 run double came next before AB was able to strikeout the next batter. A ground ball to Aidan at short who fired over to Cameron gave the Cubs their 2nd out. A single and a walk came next before AB was able to get another strikeout before ending the inning for the Cubs. The Noir scored 5 in the inning. The Cubs looked to reply on the sticks but were only able to muster up a single hit in the bottom half of the inning. Noir lead Cubs 7-2.

Connor came in to pitch the 4th inning. Connor started strong getting a strikeout to the lead off batter of the inning. Back to back singles and another strikeout gave the Cubs two outs with 2 runners on base. Connor was able to get a groundball to Mason at second base who flipped it to Cameron to end the inning.  The Cubs were looking to get on the board with Mason leading off who hit a double to the fence. Mason was caught trying to steal third on a throw back to the pitcher. Coleman hit a single with two outs but that is all the Cubs could muster and still trail the Noir team by a score of 7-2.

Connor was back out on the mound trying to hold the Noir team in the top of the 5th. After giving up a lead-off walk, the baserunner was able to steal second off the first pitch to the second batter of the inning. Connor was able to grab a comeback liner to himself turn and fire the throw to second to get the baserunner who was leading of the base. Beautiful double play executed by Connor. After the bases were loaded the next batter hit a ground ball that after a slight bobble Mason was able to dive and touch 2nd with the ball before the runner got there to keep the Noir from scoring in the inning. In the bottom half of the fifth inning was more of the same for the cubs. A ground ball to second fielded quickly to 1st for the first out. A ground ball to the shortstop who fired over to 1st for out number two. Owen P was able to get aboard with a walk but that is all the Cubs could get as the 3rd out came with a fly out to the pitch. Cubs trail Noir 7-2.

In the top half of the inning the Cubs sent Thomas to the mound. A lead off walk to the first batter started the inning for the Noir. Thomas was able to get a Pop Fly to Owen L at shortstop to give the Cubs their first out. A hit by pitch and back to back walks gave the Noir some life. A fly ball to Hunter in Leftfield gave the Cubs their second out. The next noir batter stepped up and hit a double which cleared the bases. After a pitching change going to Hunter he was able to get a fly ball to Thomas in Rightfield for the 3rd out but not before the Noir would score 6 in the inning. Cubs were down to their last chance. First two batters were unable to reach both hitting ground balls to the second baseman. Mason was able to get a single and after stealing 2nd he was able to come around to score on a single by Coleman. That is all the Cubs wouldget.

Final Score: Kanata Cubs  3   Tyrans-Noir  13
