Game 2 of the double-header was starting at 12:30pm and the message was clear… Generate Runs!!! BAT ON BALL! In the top of the 1st inning the Cubs responded. Cameron led off for the Cubs and had a base hit bunt that stayed fair. Scot walked to get two cubs aboard early. After a strikeout the Cubs scored on a wild pitch. Scot scored on a mason ground out to the 1st baseman doing exactly like what was asked getting the bat on the ball with runners in scoring position. A strikeout would end the inning but not before both Cameron and Scot make it home. Thomas was on the mound for his first start of the season. The leadoff batter for the Dodgers managed to get on board by a hit to left field. Thomas got a comeback grounder to himself which he then flipped to Cameron who was now playing 1st for this game. A sacrifice fly ball to Owen P in right field managed to bring home the runner from 3rd for the Dodgers. A single to the right centre gap was all that the Dodgers would get in the bottom half as Thomas was able to get the next batter to [pop out to Cameron at 1st.

Cubs went to work in the 2nd inning and it all started with a Hunter huge double to the gap in right center. Hunter stole 3rd and then Thomas came up with a base hit which scored Hunter from 3rd. A walk to Owen P, Owen L was hiot by a pitch brought up Aidan with bases loaded. The Dodgers pitcher was struggling to find the location and walked Aidan which brought home Thomas to give the cubs their 4th run of the game. After a strikeout Scot came up with a big 2 run double which he blasted to right center. A ground out and a strikeout would end the Cubs half inning but not before they extend their lead by scoring 5 runs in the inning. Thomas had a few runs to work with now. He got the lead off batter to hit a high fly ball out to center field where Owen L camped under it to make the catch for the first out. A single to left had the next batter on base. Thomas was able to get a strikeout of the next batter so the Cubs had to outs. After a single and a throwing error on a ball that just got away from our infield the Dodgers scored one before Thomas got the next batter to pop out to Cameron at 1st once again to end the inning. Cubs lead 7-2.

The top of the 3rd the Cubs were wanting to keep the pressure on. A strikeout to start the inning but then Hunter was plunked in the helmet the next at bat. Hunter was a stealing machine as he swiped both 2nd and 3rd. He would come around to score on a pass ball by the catcher with his strong speed. Owen P would walk but that is all the Cubs could get as the next batter popped out to the shortstop. Thomas  was back on the mound and was able to get the first two batters to fly out to Owen L in center field who tracked both beautifully and made the catches. The next batter would hit a single to right field. And come around to score on a ball that ticked off a glove and to the outfield. That is all the Dodgers would get as the next batter hit a hard grounder which went to right field where Owen P came up throwing to Cameron at 1st and was able to beat the ball for out #3. Cubs lead 8-3.

Aidan led off the top of the 4th inning with a hard infield base hit to 3rd. Connor hit a single moving Aidan who would score on a pass ball during Kyle’s at bat. Connor would score on a Kyle groundout to the shortstop. After a strikeout had the Cubs  with 2 outs Jacob hit a hard ground ball up the middle scoring Scot.. That is all the Cubs would get this inning but they managed to put up 3 more runs. Thomas  on the mound for the bottom half with a 8 run lead made quick work on this inning getting the leadoff batter to pop out to Scot at short. The next batter would hit a single to left field but Thomas would managed to get the 3rd batter to fly out to center field where Owen made yet another catch in the inning. Cubs maintain 11-3 lead.

As the Cubs were looking to extend their lead in the 5th inning. After a lead off ground out the Cubs had back to back walks by a pair of Owen’s (Perry & Lang). The next two were outs on a  fly ball to centerfield and a fly ball to the shortstop. Unfortunately the Cubs could not generate any runs this inning. Thomas headed back out there for the 5th inning. He was able to get a ground ball hit to Hunter who fired it across the diamond to Jacob who had taken over at 1st. A fly ball to Connor in left field gave the Cubs two quick outs. A single to right field and a walk would come next but Thomas would get out of the small jam but a ground ball hit to third where Hunter would field it cleanly and step on his bag to ensure no runs score. Cubs lead 11-3.

The 6th inning would be the last. The Cubs had Scot leading off who worked a walk. A strikeout would come next but back to back walks to Mason ad Jacob had the bases loaded for Hunter. Hunter would absolutely destroy a ball over the right field fence for a grand slam homerun.  A fly ball to the shortstop who had to fade back had the cubs with two outs and Owen P up who hit a ground ball up the middle. That is all the Cubs would get as they next batter fouled out to the first baseman. Jacob came on for the bottom half of the inning in relief of Thomas. Jacob who hadn’t pitched in a few weeks was anxious to get back into it and he sure did. He was able to get the lead off batter to ground out to Owen P who had taken over at 1st. He then got a strikeout. The next batter worked a walk against Jacob but he was able to get the next batter to pop out to Owen P at first to ensure there was no damage.
